Cross Country Finishes Season at SAC Tournament

11.6.09 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- The Mid-America Christian University men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their season at the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament on the campus of Lubbock Christian University on Friday morning.

On the men's side Oklahoma Christian got a big performance from Silas Kisorio and David McWilliams to win the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championship.

Oklahoma Baptist was second at 64, followed by Lubbock Christian at 77, Wayland Baptist at 84, Southern Nazarene at 86, Northwestern Oklahoma State at 196, Oklahoma City at 203 and Mid-America Christian at 205.

In the 8K, Abraham Busienei had the best finish for the Evangels taking 35th place with a time of 27:56. Freshman Fred Titera was only a few seconds behind him, finishing 42nd with a time of 28:21. Solomon Tsegay ran a 32:50, good enough for 67th and Carlos Andrade ran a 37:16 giving him 69th place. Jon Cloyed rounded out the men's team with a time of 39:40, finishing 71st.

On the women's side Oklahoma Baptist covered the cross country course with a team time of 1:37.49 to claim the Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country title Friday.

OBU finished with 46 points holding off Oklahoma Christian with 61 and Lubbock Christian with 71. Wayland Baptist was fourth with 84, followed by Southern Nazarene at 128, Oklahoma City at 180, Northwestern Oklahoma State at 181 and Mid-America Christian at 182.

After playing in the Lady Evangel basketball teams dramatic come-back win on Thursday night, dual sport athlete, Melissa Aguilar traveled to LCU to compete in the conference tournament. She had the best finish for the program with a time of 21:24 giving her 24th place.

Abby Landman turned in a time of 21:50 giving her 30th place. Kelcey Gabriel finished 52nd (26:36), Crystalann Handran finished 55th (26:43) and Jennifer Arms rounded out the Lady Evangels team finishing 57th (27:51).

With the win, the OC men's team and OBU's women's team advances to the NAIA Championship Meet in Vancouver, Wash. Nov. 21.
