10.24.09 - Winfield, Kan.- The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Southwestern College/NAIA Mid-States Classic on Saturday morning in Winfield, Kansas. There were 22 women's teams with a total of 171 runners taking on the 5k. The Lady Evangels were unable to compete with a full team due to sickness and injury. Abby Lanman finished 98th overall with a time of 21:54. Crystal Ann Handan finished 164th overall with a time of 26:32. Kansas Wesleyan won with 92 points. OC finished second with 108 points and OBU finished third with 111 points. There were 22 men's teams competing with 215 runners. Solomon Tsegay injured his ankle during the race and was unable to complete the race, leaving the Evangels without a team score. Abraham Busienei finished 78th with a time of 27:45. Fred Titera, battling food poisoning all week, ran a 31:08 finished 177. Carlos Andrade finished 205 with a time of 34:40. Jon Cloyed finished 214 with a time of 39:38. Colorado College won the meet with 125 points. Wayland Baptist finished second with 126 points and OBU finished third with 127. The MACU cross country team are back in action on November 7th at the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament in Lubbock, Texas. |
