10.31.09 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- The Mid-America Christian University volleyball team fell to Sooner Athletic opponent Wayland Baptist University in three sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-13) on Friday night at the Gaulke Activity Center. The loss drops the Lady Evangels to 9-17 overall with a 2-8 conference record. The Lady Pioneers improve to 19-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play. WBU is currently ranked second in the conference, behind Lubbock Christian. MACU and LCU face off tomorrow afternoon. The Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first set, never trailing in the game. MACU tried to rally but were unable to catch up. In game two MACU held their ground for the first few points trailing 4-6 before WBU went on a five point run (4-11). The Lady Pioneers cruised through the remainder of the set. In the third set WBU won the first five points before a kill by Becca Anderson put MACU on the board. MACU struggled offensively with negative hitting percentages in all three games. Anderson led the team in kills with six on the night. Setter Calle Solie had 14 assists. The Lady Evangels continue conference play on Saturday, October 31st at 3 p.m. against Lubbock Christian University. |
