10.20.09 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- Christiane Costa tallied 12 kills on the night but it was not enough to lead the Lady Evangles past Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Oklahoma Baptist University. The Lady Bison took the match in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-21) on Tuesday night at the Gaulke Activity Center. The loss gives the Lady Evangels an overall record of 8-16 with a 2-7 conference record. The victory improves the Lady Bison's record to 23-8 overall with a 4-4 SAC record. The Lady Evangels battled OBU throughout the entire match. In the first set the Lady Bison took a 3-0 lead before the MACU knotted the score at 4-4. The score was tied nine more time throughout the set. With the score tied 14-14, OBU won five of the next six points giving them a 19-15 advantage. The held the lead the rest of the set, giving the 1-0 lead. OBU came out strong in the second set, winning 15 of the first 20 points. MACU scored the first two points of the set but OBU never trailed after the score was tied 2-2. The Lady Evangels battled their way back into the game but OBU held on, winning 25-20. The third set was another back-and-fourth affair with neither team taking control. With the score tied at 7-7 the Lady Bison won four straight points (7-11). OBU kept the lead for the remainder of the game, taking the set 25-21. Costa led the way for MACU with a double-double. She had 12 kills, adding 14 digs, a block solo and a block assist. Becca Anderson had eight kills and three block assists. Calle Solie collected 26 set assists and a service ace. The Lady Evangels are back in action on Thursday, October 22nd at Hillsdale College with a 7 p.m. start time. |
