Senior Kasey Haney hit a two-run homerun in game two

4.22.09 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- After taking an extra inning to win game one 5-4 the Mid-America Christian University softball team dropped game two 4-2 to Southwestern College of Kansas.

The Split gives the Lady Evangels an overall record of 17-30 and 2-20 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Caitlyn Ulmer (8-11-1) was in the circle in game one for the Lady Evangels. Ulmer had 14 strikeouts on the day, which is her season high. She sat down three straight batters in the first, giving the Lady Evangels momentum. Ulmer allowed four runs on eight hits with only one walk.

MACU got on the board first in game one, posting three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Sarah Lankford led off the inning with a single and scored with a single by third baseman Courtney Kuebler. Somer Grimes who was 1-2 in the game hit a single scoring Kaci Haney who reached on a walk and Kuebler (3-0).

The Lady Builders got all three runs back in the sixth using five hits and a MACU error to score three runs.

Neither team was able to finish the game in the seventh, forcing extra innings.

The Lady Evangels held SC scoreless in the top of the eighth. Caley Wesberry started on second as the runner for the international tiebreaker. A ground out by Kuebler put Wesberry on third and a single by Kelcey Gabriel sent Wesberry across the plate for the win (5-4).

In game two SC got the first run in the top of the first and added a second in the third.

The Lady Evangels took the board tying the game with a two-run homerun by Kaci Haney.

SC regained the lead in the fifth scoring two runs. They held the Lady Evangels scoreless for the remainder of the game, winning 4-2.

Kalynne Tweedie suffers the loss in the circle with three strikeouts, giving up four runs on six hits.

The Lady Evangels will travel to Conway, Arkansas to compete in the NCCAA regional tournament on Saturday, April 25th.
