6.2.09 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- Karen Moreno, a recent Northwest Classen High School graduate, signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Mid-American Christian University. Moreno, 18, is the daughter of Victor and Aida Moreno. She is a native of Oklahoma City. Moreno excelled on the soccer field along with playing volleyball and running cross country for the Lady Knights. As a senior defender she scored five goals and was named to the class 5A All-District team and to the Oklahoma High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State team. Moreno was also a stand out in the classroom, winning a community award from the Lions Club, and the Oklahoma City RedHawks "Catch a Dream" scholarship. "Karen will be an excellent addition to our program," head women's soccer coach Zach Bice said. "She was a stellar performer on the high school level. Moreno brings tremendous leadership skills and a defensive wizardry to the back line." MACU is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Sooner Athletic Conference. |
