11.6.09 - Bartlesville, Okla. - Freshman Julia Nimal scored a hat trick in Mid-America Christian University 5-0 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Evangel controlled the game from the first whistle. Senior Jocelyn Mehlhaff put MACU on the board in the 12th minute with the assist coming from freshman Kassie Shivers. "We possessed the ball really well today," Head Coach Zach Bice said. "I was pleased with the way our women played." Just one minute later Shivers got her second assist of the day, dishing the ball to Nimal who netted her ninth goal of the season. The Lady Evangels held a 2-0 lead going into intermission. Nimal got her second goal of the game 14 minutes into the second half. Jocelyn Mehlhaff crossed her ball and Nimal buried it in the back of the net. Nimal completed her hat trick in the 78th minute making her the team's leading scorer with 11 goals on the year. Nicole Farquhar got the assist on the goal. Shivers got the final goal of the game in the 79th minute with an assist from Mehlhaff. Jamie Thatcher got the shut-out win in goal for MACU. She made two saves in the match. MACU will host in the National Christian College Athletic Association Central Regional Tournament November 19th- 21st, more information to come. |
