10.31.09 - Oklahoma City, Okla.-The Mid-America Christian University women's soccer team had a successful senior day, man handling Sooner Athletic Conference opponent St. Gregory's University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Evangel Field.

The win gives MACU a 7-7-1 overall record with a 3-4-1 SAC record. The loss drops the Lady Cavaliers to 4-12-1 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

The Lady Evangels got on the board early with senior Jocelyn Mehlhaff slotting the ball past the keeper off a corner kick by Nicole Farquhar. MACU out-shot the Lady Cavaliers 25-6 in the first half but could not finish. They held a 1-0 lead going into intermission.

Seven minutes into the second half, Julia Nimal extended the MACU lead; Standing at the top of the box, freshman Kassie Shivers passed a ball to the left side of the box where Nimal buried the ball in the net.

Rachel Scott put the game out of reach for SGU, floating a free-kick over the goalkeepers head from 35 yards out. Freshman Melissa Dobie sealed the game, scoring her first collegiate goal in the 63rd minute.

MACU out-shot SGU 25-6 with 15 shots on goal compared to the Lady Cavaliers five shots on goal.

Jamie Thatcher and Amy Witt split time in goal for MACU. In the shut-out, Thatcher had three saves and Witt had one.

Seniors Lindsey McKinney and Jocelyn Mehlhaff were honored between games for their four years of contrubution to the soccer program.

The Lady Evangels continue conference play on Monday, November 2nd, traveling to Oklahoma Christian University. Kick-off set for 5 p.m.
