9/4/07 - PLAINVIEW, Texas - The Lady Evangels battled Wayland Baptist University Tuesday, September 4. MACU won 3-2 thanks to a late goal by Christina Black.

"It was a great win for our program," Coach Bice said. "We are playing really good soccer right now."

Brittany Foos led the Lady Evangels early, scoring two goals in the first half, while Lady Evangel goalie Emily Lyon held Wayland Baptist scoreless.

"I was pleased with the way we played in the first half," Coach Bice said.

Wayland Baptist came out in the second half and scored a goal early to cut the lead, 1-2. The game was back and forth, with both teams playing exceptionally hard. Wayland Baptist was able to tie the game with less than ten minutes remaining. However, MACU's Black scored the winning goal with less than three minutes remaining.

"The girls showed tremendous heart down the stretch," Coach Bice said.

Lyon had 8 saves and assisted the game winning goal. Bailey Williams and Laci Ruppel picked up the other two assists.

The Lady Evangels improved to 3-2.

MACU will travel to Texas this weekend to play Southwest Assemblies of God University and Texas Wesleyan. The Lady Evangels will play SAGU Friday and Texas Wesleyan Saturday.
