10.24.09 - Bethany, Okla.- The Mid-America Christian University women's soccer team fell to Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Southern Nazarene University 4-1 on Saturday evening at Harmon Field. With the loss, MACU drops to 5-7-1 overall with a 1-4-1 conference record. The win gives the Crimson Storm a 11-3-1 overall record and a 6-1 SAC record. Alecia Peterson scored her first goal of the season, giving the Storm a 1-0 lead in the first. SNU jumped to a 2-0 lead just one minute later with a goal by Jackie Acevedo, assisted by Beatriz Silva. The Crimson Storm took the 2-0 lead into halftime. The Lady Evangels held SNU scoreless for most of the second half but the Storm was persistent. Rachel Eguren added their third goal in the 76th minute. At the 80:84 mark Kendra Nixson sealed the game, scoring her first goal of the season. MACU Freshman, Julia Nimal kept the Storm from getting a shut out scoring in the 89th minute. The goal is Nimal's ninth of the season, making her the team's leading goal scorer. SNU outshot the Lady Evangels with 11 shots on goal compared to MACU who only managed four. However, the MACU defense was able to trap the Storm off-sides six times throughout the match.

The Lady Evangels are back in action at home Tuesday, October 27th at 1 p.m. against conference opponent Rogers State University. |
