5.11.09 - McAlester, Okla. - With their family and coaches looking on Abbey Warren and Jessica Martin signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Mid-America Christian University for the 2009-2010 season. Martin and Warren will both graduate from Lakewood Christian School in McAlester, Oklahoma in May. During their four year run at LCS the Lady Lions were back-to-back state champions in 2006 and 2007. Martin, 17, is the daughter of David and Laurie Martin. She played forward and guard for the Lady Lions. She was named to the OCSAA All-State team in 2007 and 2009. Also in 2007 and 2009 she was the GCCAC MVP. In 2008 and 2009 Martin was named to the EOSC Open Class All-Tournament team. She is also a member of the 2009 Daily Oklahoma All-State team. Martin excels in the classroom as well; she is the Valedictorian of her class. "Jessica is a very hard working student-athlete," LCS women's basketball coach April Burns said. "She has a strong desire to achieve. She will do great things at MACU. We will miss her at LCS." Warren, 17, is the daughter of Judy and David Warren. She was a shooting guard at LCS. During her career with the Lady Lions she was named to the All- Conference and All- State team in 2007 and 2009. Warren is also a stand out in the classroom being named the class salutatorian. "Abbey is a Champion, very dedicated and hard working," Coach April Burns said. "She will be a great asset to any program and will be greatly missed at LCS." Mid-America Christian University is a member of the NAIA and the Sooner Athletic Conference. |
