2.6.10 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- The Mid-America Christian University women's basketball team could not get past Sooner Athletic Conference opponent John Brown University, losing 66-58 on Saturday Evening at the Gaulke Activity Center. MACU (12-12, 5-11 SAC) was led by Karina Trindade who contributed her sixth double-double of the season. She scored 15 points while grabbing 13 rebounds. Michelle Hardimon posted 12 points and April Hale had 10 points. Emily Ortiz led the Lady Golden Eagles (8-16, 4-12 SAC) in scoring with 13 points. Ashley Taylor and Katie Mangels also scored in double-digits each adding 12 points. The Lady Golden Eagles took an early nine-point lead in the first half (19-10) but the Lady Evangels hung with JBU, trailing by five points (31-26) at the break. JBU opened the second half out-scoring MACU 13-7 taking a 10-point advantage (44-34). The Lady Evangels countered with a 10-3 rally of their own, trailing by only three (47-44) with just under eight minutes to play. The Lady Evangels were unable to catch-up with JBU. The Lady Golden Eagles out-scored MACU 19-14 in the final seven minutes. The Lady Evangels shot 69 percent from the free throw line, 32 percent from the floor and 33 percent from behind the arc. The Lady Evangels are back at home on Tuesday, February 9th playing host to Central Christian College in the opening round of the NCCAA Central Region Tournament. |
