10.25.08 - Winfield, KS- The Mid-America Christian University men's and women's cross country team sent four runners, three women and one man, to the Southwestern College NAIA Mid-State Classic on Saturday morning. On the women's side there were 178 runners and sophomore Melissa Aquilar led the Lady Evangels placing 100th with a time of 21:26.17. The time was a personal best for Aguilar. Abby Lanman finished in 124th place finishing the race in 22:19.99. Freshman Rachel Mundt also improved her personal best, coming in 136th with a time of 22:57.78. On the men's side Caleb Salter finished with a time of 32.00.84 which was good enough for 182nd place. There were 204 men competing in the race. "We are getting better every week and that is all that I can ask for," Coach Jerald Lewis said. "I am happy to see two of our runners improve their personal best times. We have had someone PR at each meet we have competed in." The MACU cross country team will be back in action on November eighth when the compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament. |
