12.3.08 - KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Mid-America Christian University (MACU) men's soccer team fell the to number one seed, Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU), 7-1 on Wednesday evening in the quarterfinals of the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida. The Evangels trailed early when the Wildcats scored their first goal in the 15th minute off a penalty kick. One minute later Indiana Wesleyan found the back of the net again, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 advantage. The third goal was scored in the 19th minute when IWU sophomore Nick Fortini curled a corner kick into the goal. The Evangels trailed 3-0 going into halftime. The Wildcats did not waste any time in the second half, scoring in the 55th minute. MACU got on the board in the 60th minute with a goal from freshman Andy Mendoza, making the score 4-1. The Wildcats netted three more goals in the second half making the final score 7-1. IWU out-shot the Evangels 18-4 and had 10 corner kicks and MACU had zero. The Evangels will play a consultation game Thursday, December 4th at 5 p.m. against the number four seed Palm Beach Atlantic. For all of the scores from the tournament visit www.thenccaa.org |
