11.3.09 - Shawnee, Okla.- Playing on short rest, the Mid- America Christian University men's and women's soccer teams fell at Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Oklahoma Baptist University on Tuesday afternoon at Bison Field.

The women rallied, after giving up four goals before halftime but fell short losing 4-2. The men were defeated 4-0.

The Lady Bison got on the board early with a goal by Courtney Anderson in the 47th second of play. Senior Menjun Zang dished out the assist. In the 22nd minute the scoring duo switched places with Anderson feeding the ball to Zang who found the back of the net.

Anderson got her second assist of the afternoon in the 25th minute giving the ball to Lin Yan who gave the Lady Bison a 3-0 advantage.

Junior Kristin Morrow rounded out the scoring for OBU in the 30th minute, putting away a penalty kick.

MACU regrouped at halftime, finding the back of the net in the 51st minute of play. Freshman Julia Nimal scored her 10th goal of the year with the assist coming from fellow freshman Karen Moreno.

Senior Jocelyn Mehlhaff put away a penalty kick in the 80th minute but the Lady Evangels fell short, 4-2.

Jamie Thatcher took the loss in goal with 13 saves, giving up four goals.

On the men's side the Bison put away their first goal in the seventh minute of play with a goal by Victor Costa. Costa put away his second goal in th 14 minute, giving the Bison a 2-0 advantage going into the half.

OBU added to their lead in the 60th minute with a goal by Yalli Oliveira.

Costa completed his hat trick in the 68th minute with Christiano Sampaio dishing out the assist.

The MACU soccer program closes out the regular season on Thursday November 5th when they travel to Oklahoma Wesleyan University. The women kick off at 3 p.m. followed by the men at 5 p.m.
