11.3.09 - Oklahoma City, Okla.-The Mid-America Christian University men's soccer team tied Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Oklahoma Christian University in a hard fought battle Monday evening. While the Lady Evangels fell 2-0 to OC prior to the men's match. With the tie the men improve to 8-6-1 overall and 2-5-1 in conference play. The Eagles are now 9-4-2 overall with 4-3-1 SAC record. The loss gives the Lady Evangels a 7-8-1 overall record with a 3-5-1 conference record. With the win, the Lady Eagles improve to 9-6-2 overall and 3-5-1 in the conference. The women's game was knotted (0-0) at halftime. But two goals by Stephanie Duncan in the second half were all the Lady Eagles needed to wrap up the game. The Lady Evangels had ten shots in the game with three of them on goal. Jamie Thatcher took the loss in goal for the Lady Evangels, making five save and allowing two goals. On the men's side OC struck first, with Cristian Fernandes putting a goal away in the 48th minute of play. Jeremiah Huff scored the equalizer for MACU in the 70th minute of play off a cross from Garrett Dressel. Neither team was able to get the game winning goal in the two overtime periods, leaving the game in a draw. Auston Custar played in goal for the Evangels, making seven save and allowing one goal. MACU out-shot OC 4-0 in overtime. MACU soccer is back in action on Tuesday, November 3rd for their final conference match at Oklahoma Baptist University. The women kick-off at 12 p.m. followed by the men at 2 p.m. |
