9/13/07 - WINFIELD, Kan. - For the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 90 minutes just isn't long enough for a soccer game. In their second consecutive overtime game, the Evangels defeated Southwestern College 3-2 on Thursday to improve to 4-2-1. "It was a good win," Coach Zac Bice said. "I would much rather win the game in regulation, but we will take a win any way we can get it." Freshman Kyle Pezant planted a goal in the upper right hand corner on an assist from Bryce Jantz in overtime to seal an Evangel win. This game was the second overtime win of the season for the Evangels and the third overtime game of the season. MACU tied Bethany College earlier in the year. In the first half, both teams struggled to get the ball in the net with neither scoring a goal. The second half brought more offence with both teams scoring two goals apiece. Junior Joey Yeisley scored an unassisted goal early in the second half for the Evangels, but Southwestern quickly answered with a goal of their own. Jantz continued his consecutive game scoring streak netting a goal on a pass from Donte Roberti to force overtime. The victory concludes the Evangels five game road swing in which they have been won three out of their last four games. The Evangels travel back home to James Curtis Field to host St. Gregory's University at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20.
