9/1/07 - BETHANY, Kansas - The Mid-America Christian University Evangels concluded a tough two-game road trip finishing with a win and a tie. On Friday, MACU tied the Bethany College Swedes 3-3 and then defeated the Central Christian College Tigers 8-1 to improve their season record to 2-1-1.

"We had a good weekend," Coach Zac Bice said. "It would have been nice to win two games, but we did not lose any games."

Against Bethany College, the Evangels struggled to get the ball in the net in the first half trailing 1-0 after 45 minutes of play. The Evangels responded in the second half with three goals, but allowed the Swedes two goals sending the game into overtime. In the overtime period, both teams were held scoreless in resulting in a 3-3 tie.

For the Evangels, Matt Ross, Chris Skillern and Clint Paxton scored goals for the Evangels.

The second half on the Kansas road swing resulted in MACU winning 8-1 against Central Christian College. The Evangels dominated the Tigers from the opening kick-off to the final whistle.

Bryce Jantz extended his team lead in goals scoring four goals and picking up two assists in the win. Dylan Finch, Kyle Pezant and Tyler Jones also contributed to the scoring effort with each adding a goal to the offensive output. The final goal came off the foot of a Tiger player. Marvin Lazo, Joey Yeisley, Jones, Finch and Kyle Miller all had an assist in the contest.

The Evangels will be on the road again September 8 and 9 for a two game weekend in Texas. On Friday, September 9, 2007, MACU will play Texas Wesleyan and will travel to Waxahachie, Texas on Saturday to challenge Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
