10.6.09 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- The Mid-America Christian University men's soccer team was unable to get past Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Oklahoma City University on Tuesday, falling 3-0 at Evangel field. With the loss the Evangels have a 6-3 record with a 0-2 mark in the conference. The Stars improve to 9-1-1 overall with a 2-0 record in conference play. OCU currently has the second best record in the conference. The Star finished the match out-shooting MACU 16-2. OCU only allowed the Evangels one shot on goal. The Stars had eight shots on goal. The Stars took a 1-0 lead into intermission; Chris Spenlove found the back of the net in the 31st minute. They put their second goal away in the 57th minute when Steven Short found John Dill who scored his fourth goal of the season. The Stars locked up the game in the 72nd minute with a goal by Ryan Hunter. Austin Custar made his season depute, allowing three goals and making four saves. Defender Kyle Miller saved a goal in the first half when he volleyed a shot off the goal line. The Evangels look to get their first conference win of the season on Friday, October 9th at Oklahoma Christian. Start time is set for 8 p.m. |
