10.15.08 - Panama City, Fla.- With a final team score of 663, the Mid-America Christian University men's golf team finished the NCCAA National Golf Tournament in 15th place.18 schools competed in the tournament with 90 golfer trying to earn the top spot. The tournament was held at the Edgewater Beach Resort on Hombre Golf Course in Panama City, Florida. MACU had a team score of 331 on the first day of competition and a second round score of 332 giving them a final of 663 which is 87 over par. The Evangels took four freshmen and one sophomore to the National Tournament. Carding the best two day score for the Evangels was freshman Karl Griffith. He carded an 81 on the first day and an 82 on the second day giving him a 163 which was 19 over par. Freshman Ryan Hopson carded an 84 on both days of the tournament which put him in 68th. James Wiginton carded an 85 on both rounds which tied him 70th place. Sophomore Andrew Sheppard carded a 81 during his final round to move into a tie for 72nd place at 171. Freshman Weston Wright rounded out the lineup with a 173 total after a final round of 92 giving him 75th place. Malone University won the National Championship with a final team score of 592. |
