10.13.09 - Panama City, Fla.- The Mid-America Christian University golf team was unable to bounce back from a tough first round score ending the National Christian College Athletic Association Golf National Championship in 18th place. Dallas Baptist University took home the title with an overall score of 880 (287, 293, 300). Colorado Christian's Jon Klingensmith took home the individual crown, carding a 212 (71, 69,72). Sophomore Karl Griffith led the Evangels, carding 84 on the final round. He shot a 245 (80, 81, 84) over the three rounds, tying for 68th place. Sophomore Matt Costilow finished the tournament tied for 73rd place. He had a three day total of 284 (84, 83, 81), improving his score each round. Sophomore James Wiginton finished in 84th place. He carded an 89 in the first round and finished the tournament posting an 85 in back to back rounds. Fellow sophomore Cody Mosley finished five spots behind Wigington in a tie for 89th place. Mosley had a 264 three-round total (92, 83, 89). The lone senior, Andrew Shepard rounded out the five, finishing 96th overall. He posted a 291, with a low-round score of 88. The Evangels will be back in action in the spring of 2010 with a full slate of competition. |
