9.25.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University golf team placed second at the Southwest Christian University Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Hefner Golf Course. The Evangels shot a 301 on both rounds of golf giving them an overall team score of 602. This is the best ever two-round golf score posted by a MACU team. The previous best score was 603, set last year in the Panhandle State Invitational. Central Christian College took first place in the tournament posting a team score of 584, beating MACU by 18 strokes. Four out of the top five scores came from CCC. MACU has placed in the top three at all of the tournaments they have competed in thus far. Freshman Karl Griffith led the way for the Evangels earning an individual medal, carding a 71 and a 74 to finish in third place. Freshman Logan Street carded his best round of collegiate with a 75. The Evangels will be back in action on September 29th when they travel to Hutchinson, Kansas to take part in the Sterling Invitational. |
