9.19.08 - The Mid-America Christian University golf team defeated Southwest Christian University in a head-to-head match up at Earlywine Golf Course in Oklahoma City on Thursday afternoon. MACU carded a 293, beating SCU by four points. "We scored the lowest round of golf that I have seen posted by a MACU team in my tenure as Golf coach," Golf Coach Markus Crandall said. "It was great to see such an all-around solid team effort." Freshman Weston Wright carded a 70, his lowest competitive round of the season. James Wiginton shot the lowest competitive round of his golf career with a 68. Freshman Cody Mosley carded a 76 and Cody Flynn shot a 79. MACU missed tying the all-time golf team record by one stroke. The record is 292, shot last year at the OPSU tournament. SCU was lead by Eric Carnes and Reed Ewing, both carding a 73. Their 297 was a school record for SCU. MACU will return to action on September 23rd when they begin play at the Southwest Christian University Invitational at Hefner Golf Course in Oklahoma City |
