9.14.09 - McPherson, Kan.- The Mid-America Christian University golf team carded a first round 300 even at the Central Christian College Invitational on Monday at Turkey Creek Golf Course to stand tied for seventh place with John Brown University.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University grabbed the top spot in the team race with a 285.

Sophomore Karl Griffith lead the Evangels carding a 70 followed by Matt Costillow who carded a 74.

Senior Andrew Sheppard finished the first day of competition with a 77 and freshman Jake McElhany shot a 79.

James Wiginton rounded out the top five with an 86.

Other notable scores were from sophomore Cody Mosley posting a 73 followed by Weston Wright carding and 82 and Matt Howard finished with an 84.

The Evangels will play the final round at the invitational tomorrow, Tuesday , September 15th. MACU is set to tee off at 9:52 a.m.
