MACU Pitcher Cody Wise

MACU Pitcher Cody Wise

June 9, 2009

5.9.09 - Harlingen, Texas- Mid-America Christian University senior pitcher, Cody Wise, signed a contract to play baseball for United League Baseball's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings.

Wise, 22, spent his senior season with the Evangels. He was the first MACU baseball player to be named Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his complete game shut out win against Wayland Baptist University, only giving up two hits with nine strikeouts. He also received National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Player of the Week in March.

"This is a great opportunity for Cody," head baseball coach Kevin Paxson said. "He was a work horse on the mound for us this year. He pitched several complete games and we hope to see him have success with the White Wings this summer."

Wise is a native of Palm Springs, California. He came to MACU from Tennessee Wesleyan after spending two years at College of the Desert in California.

The WhiteWings open the 2009 season against the Coastal Bend Thunder on Thursday, June 11 at Harlingen Field.
