Greenville, S.C. -- Fresh off a second consecutive NCCAA Central Regional championship and an appearance in the NCCAA National Tournament, big things are again expected for the Mid-America Christian Evangels men's soccer squad, as they are ranked ninth in the NCCAA Preseason Men's Soccer Poll, announced today (Sept. 2) by the national office.                                                                                                                                                                                       
Defending NCCAA national champion Judson University (IL) is favored to win it again as they come in first in the poll with 67 points.
 
The Master's College (CA) is next, followed by Olivet Nazarene University (IL), Indiana Wesleyan University and Palm Beach Atlantic University rounding out the top five. 
 
Mount Vernon Nazarene University (OH) ranks sixth, with Bethel College (IN), Covenant College (GA), MACU and Greenville College (IL) rounding out the 10-team poll. 
 
The Evangels, under co-head coaches Zach Bice and Evan Dresel, finished the 2009 regular season with an overall record of 10-8-1 before stampeding to two victories to win the NCCAA Central Regional Tournament. 
 
MACU then won the opener of the NCCAA National Tournament over Mid-Continent before falling in its final two matches to finish the season with a final record of 11-10-1.
 
Bice and Dresel have a nice mix of veterans and newcomers for the upcoming season and are 0-1-1 in their first two matches of 2010. 
 
The Evangels are set to play a pair of matches in Shreveport, LA.  this weekend at the Shreveport Invitational beginning with a matchup against Texas College on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 4) at 3 p.m. 
 
MACU will then face host LSU-Shreveport on Monday afternoon (Sept. 6), also at 3 p.m.
