Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels kicked off the 2010 campaign in style by rolling to a 6-0 win over the visiting Southwestern Assemblies of God Lady Lions Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 25).                                        
The Lady Evangels had numerous chances early on but couldn't convert until the Lady Lions committed a foul in the box that led to a successful Rachel Scott penalty kick in the 34th minute of action.
 
From that point, the Lady Evangels caught fire as Bertha Fajardo found Allison Swyden for a header in the box five minutes later for the second score of the match.
 
Swyden added her second goal of the match seven minutes in the second half on an assist from Nicole Farquhar for a three-goal advantage.
 
Michelle Medina then struck for a score just four minutes later for a commanding 4-0 lead.
 
After an own-goal made it 5-0, Amber Sumpter finished things off for MACU off a feed from Kelsey Wahlen at exactly the 81 minute mark. 
 
Swyden shined for the Lady Evangels, contributing two goals and a team-high 11 shots and seven shots-on-goal.
 
Overall, the Lady Evangels out-shot the Lady Lions by a whopping 40-7 count. 
 
Melissa Dobie blanked the Lady Lions and made seven saves.
 
Tracy Griffin done her best to keep the Lady Lions close by recording 21 saves. 
 
Next up for the Lady Evangels will be a trip to Shreveport, LA.  to face Belhaven University on Sept. 4 at 1 p.m.
