OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Softball Lady Evangels have added catcher Randi Gilmartin for the upcoming 2013 season.
Gilmartin transfers to MACU from Neosho County Community College, where she slugged five home runs last season and posted a team-high .366 on-base-percentage. She also batted .286 and drove in 17 runs in 2012.
She prepped for the Collinsville HS Cardinals and earned back-to-back All-Conference selections, once as a first baseman in 2009 and then as a catcher in 2010. Gilmartin was also an All-Region, All-State-Large East selection in 2010 as well as receiving All-Metro Honorable-Mention honors.
Gilmartin's performance helped the Cardinals capture three consecutive Oklahoma 5A Regional Championships from 2008-2010.

Robert Wakefield expects Gilmartin will be able to step in and at least fill a portion of the huge gap left behind.
"Randi could be a big time player and contributor for this program as she has a year of college experience under her belt, Wakefield said. "She will be playing multiple positions, but behind the plate she will be a leader on the field for us. I am excited to have a player like Randi in our program here at MACU."
She is the daughter of Randy and Vickie Gilmartin and anticipates majoring in Behavioral Science at MACU.
