Edmond, Okla. -- The Mid-America Christian Evangels fell in heartbreaking fashion, 90-86 at the Oklahoma Christian Eagles in a dramatic Sooner Athletic Conference matchup Saturday evening (Jan. 28) in Edmond, Okla.

The Evangels were seemingly in control when a three by Brandon Williams gave them a 74-72 lead and then a defensive stop gave them possession with 17 seconds left.

But an offensive foul led to a game-tying bucket by Will Reinke that evened the score for the 16th time and sent it to a second overtime.

The Eagles quickly took control as a three-point play by Reinke and a trey from Brandon Troutman fueled an 8-2 spurt to begin the second OT session.

The Evangels responded as consecutive threes from Charlie Shorter and Reggie Davis helped bring the Evangels back to within 86-83 with 34 seconds left.

After a pair of free throws by Eric Randall made it a five-point game, another three by Shorter cut the deficit to just two with 17 seconds remaining.

The Eagles then left the door cracked slightly as Randall split a pair at the charity stripe, but a turnover and one free throw by Devon White sealed the win for OC.

Shorter led the Evangels with 26 points and eight rebounds.  Williams scored 20 and had six boards, while Camilo Valencia also reached double-figures with 12 points along with four assists.

Reinke led all scorers with 30 points and 13 boards, while Troutman had 16 and Randall chipped in with 14 points for the Eagles.

The Evangels were stout on the glass, out-rebounding the Eagles 52-42 overall and 19-11 on the offensive glass.

MACU will remain on the road and play at St. Gregory's on Thursday night (Feb. 2) at 8 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.
