Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Camilo Valencia recorded a career-high point total of 25 points, but it wasn't nearly enough as the No. 14-ranked Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm flexed their muscle in a 93-64 win in Sooner Athletic Conference action Saturday evening (Jan. 21) at the Gaulke Activity Center. 
 
Valencia did his best to keep the Evangels close during the Crimson Storm's early surge.  He scored on drives to the basket along with a trey in scoring 14 of Evangel's first 21 points.
 
SNU opened the game with six straight points and built a 13-3 lead on consecutive scores inside from Ryan Aaron and Jon West. 
 
After a three by Valencia cut the lead to seven, Aaron Jones answered with a trey of his own to bring the lead back to double-figures. 
 
The Crimson Storm continued to pull away as a 12-3 run stretched the lead to 28-11 and a three by Robert Brewer ballooned the lead to 20 at 34-15 with 9:03 left in the opening half. 
 
Later a score by Brewer gave the Crimson Storm a 52-28 lead at the half. 
 
Brandon Williams  hit a three and Cameron Langster scored twice to help the Evangels claw within 21 by opening the second half on a 9-6 spurt. 
 
The deficit was 24 when the Crimson Storm (15-3, 8-4 SAC) put it away with a 14-4 run that stretched the lead to their highest to that point, 77-43 with 8:59 remaining. 
 
Valencia's 25 points were a game-high, as he was the only Evangel in double-figures.  He also dished out a team-high four assists.  George Haynes scored seven and led the Evangels (8-9, 3-9 SAC) with a game-high eight rebounds. 
 
Aaron led five Crimson Storm in double-figures with 17 points, while Brewer scored 12 and had a game-high six assists.  Horace McGloster had 10 points and a team-high six boards. 
 
The Evangels shot only 36.7 percent (22-of-60) from floor overall, compared to a sizzling 62.1 percent (36-of-58) for the Crimson Storm.  But the Evangels out-rebounded SNU 37-33 overall and 19-8 on the offensive glass.
 
Next up the Evangels will conclude their six-game homestand against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday night (Jan. 26) at 8 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
