Oklahoma City, Okla. - The No. 12-ranked Lubbock Christian Lady Chaparrals jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 92-59 win over the Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels in a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon (Jan. 14) at the Gaulke Activity Center.
LCU extended a 21-point halftime edge to 27 on a three by Emily Atkins and a pair of free throws by Brittany Roberts with 15:43 left.
The Lady Evangels clawed back to within 65-44 on three points from Brittany Woodard and a free throw from Nicole Wittman at the 12:10 mark.
But April Ehlers fueled an 8-0 spurt with five straight points that gave the Lady Chaps a commanding 73-44 advantage with 8:49 remaining.
The Lady Evangels got no closer than 22 the rest of the way.
The Lady Chaps got off to a quick start behind five points from Nicole Hampton and four from Kelsey Canavan to lead 14- 5 at the 16:10 mark of the first half. 
After threes by Brittany Roberts and Kelsey Hoppel expanded the lead to 18, a jumper from Parris Price and a driving layup from Wittman cut the deficit to 28-14 with 8:18 remaining in the opening half. 
The Lady Evangels continued to hang around as a three by Erica Jones and another bucket from Wittman trimmed the lead to 32-21 at the 5:24 mark.
LCU then scored six straight to stretch the lead to 17 and a three by Jennifer Altman as the first half expired gave the Lady Chaps a 48-27 lead heading into the break. 
Wittman led the Lady Evangels (8-8, 2-8 SAC) with 18 points along with a team-high eight rebounds. Price added 11 and Kourtni Williams finished with 10 points.
Roberts led all scorers with 23 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point distance. Atkins had 19 and hit four from beyond the arc, while Canavan had 15 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Hampton chipped in with 11 points and a game-high nine assists.
The Lady Chaps (12-3, 9-0 SAC) shot 55.2 percent (32-of-58) overall from the field and limited the Lady Evangels to a 37.5 percent (21-of-56) shooting clip. LCU also held a 38-29 edge on the glass. 
MACU will next host USAO on Thursday night (Jan. 19) at 6 p.m. in the Gaulke Activity Center.
